Acceptable Use Policy

Purpose
Postrider sends email on shared infrastructure (Amazon SES), and every tenant's sending reputation contributes to how reliably everyone's email reaches the inbox. This policy exists to keep that infrastructure trustworthy, and applies alongside our Terms of Service.
You must have a real relationship with the people you email
Postrider is for emailing people who already have a relationship with your organisation — members, subscribers, congregants, employees, customers — not for cold outreach or purchased/rented/scraped contact lists. When you register, you confirm you're authorised to send on your organisation's behalf and that your members have a lawful basis to be contacted; that confirmation has to stay true for every list you create.
Prohibited content
You must not use Postrider to send, or to redistribute via a reflector list, content that:
- Is unsolicited bulk email to people without an existing relationship to your organisation.
- Constitutes phishing, or attempts to obtain credentials, payment details, or other sensitive information under false pretences.
- Promotes a scam, pyramid scheme, or other content designed to defraud recipients.
- Contains malware, or links to sites hosting malware.
- Is illegal in the United Kingdom, including content that harasses, defames, or incites violence or hatred against a person or group.
- Infringes someone else's intellectual property rights.
Campaign content is automatically screened for these characteristics before sending (see our Privacy Notice); content flagged by that check is held for manual review rather than sent.
Sending practices
- The From address and organisation name shown to recipients must accurately identify you — no spoofing another sender.
- Every campaign and list email must include a working unsubscribe mechanism; Postrider adds this automatically and you must not attempt to remove or disable it.
- Reply-To addresses must be genuine and monitored, where you set one.
- Don't use Postrider to send to an address that has already bounced or unsubscribed — the platform enforces this automatically at the point of send, and attempting to work around it is a breach of this policy.
Keeping bounce and complaint rates low
We monitor bounce and spam-complaint rates per tenant against general email-industry thresholds. An account that repeatedly exceeds those thresholds may be automatically suspended to protect the shared sending reputation, even without any individual message being flagged as prohibited content — this is usually a sign of a stale or poorly-sourced list rather than deliberate abuse, and we'll work with you to fix it before sending resumes.
What happens if this policy is breached
Depending on severity, we may hold a specific campaign for review, require changes to a list or sending practice, suspend sending for the account while we investigate, or terminate the account outright for a serious or repeated breach (in particular, phishing, scam content, or knowingly emailing people without a lawful basis to do so).
Reporting abuse
If you receive email sent through Postrider that you believe breaches this policy, or you're a tenant with a concern about how the platform is being used, contact support@postrider.uk.
